Abstract ATC

I have been making some ATC's for a swap, the theme of which is abstact. Here's what I did and how I did it.

I was browsing Bernie Berlin's book Artist Trading Card Workshop and thought I'd have a go at one of her techniques - Glass-Like Resin, for the background.

I started off with dry-brushed acrylic on card stock.

I then covered in embossing ink and added some thick embossing powder

and heated. I did this again and stamped with Brilliance thyme ink whilst it was warm.

As a twist I decided to add some Glimmer Mist in Walnut Gold , dried this off and added another layer of embossing powder. When it was dry I cracked it.

I then trimmed it, added some brads and mounted on antique distressed gold mirror card. At this stage I got a little stuck and asked for some advice from my friends on a group I belong to.

I made an embellishment from 'biscuits' wooden shapes that are used in wood-making. You can get them in a big bag from do it yourself stores quite cheaply. I sanded it down a little, added ultra thick embossing powder and stamped into it when still warm with the same stamp and ink used for the background.

To finish it off I coloured some edging stickers with a green rub on and gold rub 'n buff.

Teesha Pages

I have been very busy of late creating 60 pages for a 'Teesha Moore' style swap. I decided to make my pages all different and severely underestimated the time it would take me! However I have got them all done and they are on their way to the swap hostess, one Miss Pea :) Here's a few of them.

This is something completely new for me,I did enjoy the learning curve, though I'm not sure I have got the style quite right. Saying that this is my OWN style. :)

Open Sesame

This is an ATC done for a swap. The ATC had to open in some way.

The background for this is a 'silver foil' plumber's tape stuck onto card, embossed and coloured with alcohol inks, black and rust. The words were printed out on my Dymo machine and coloured with gold rub 'n buff. Inside left is an acetate cut and edged. Inside right is stamped acetate, coloured with a mix of gum arabic and pearl-ex powders, mounted on double sided sticky paper and edged with krylon. The 'hinges' were made with th plumber's tape.I hope my swap partner will like this, I enjoyed making it.

Inchies

Ah inchies! Seems we have all got a bit addicted to these little lovelies. One of the girls on the swap group I belong to has come up with Cicrclies...1" circles but I haven't tried them yet. Don't suppose it will be long as I'm sure there will be a swap soon.Anyway these have been made for a swap, 36 of them, 6 of each design. Well some of them aren't the same, but the general theme is followed for each group of 6. The overall theme is earth tones-ochres siennas browns burnt orange and brick, to include stamping , a background ,a word ,a paper layer or an embellishement. Not necessarily all of them but stamping is a must.

Photography

I belong to a photography group, which meets about once a month. None of us are experts, but we set subjects and show and discuss the photographs taken, it's good fun. Here are a couple of pictures that I took at Slimbridge Wetlands and Wildfowl Trust, a great day out and brilliant for photographers.

This one was was taken in the Tropical House, I wasn't quick enough to get photographs of the birds, so took this instead.

I love water reflections and took a lot of photographs of the flamingoes.

This one was taken at Sissinghurst Castle, which has a beautiful garden created by Vita Sackville-West and her husband Sir Harold Nicolson. It is the roof of the visitors centre. I took this in black and white mode and cropped it in Adobe.
